Local Directory Website Decides to Sell

Sevenoaks Internet directory website 247oaks.co.uk is looking for new owners after seven years in operation.

Run by a two man partnership of long time Sevenoaks locals, the duo have been working on the website in their spare time. Unfortunately, this seems to be time they no longer have as they recently announced: http://www.247oaks.co.uk/blog/2014/03/this-website-is-for-sale/.

"It's always been a website with a lot of potential that could be a real asset to the local community" 247oaks partner M. Cameron told us, "We have put a lot of work into the site over the years and we don't want to just let it die. We'd like to see some one help it reach its potential."

It seems the site was conceived to provide a central repository of contact details not just for Sevenoaks businesses but also community groups, sports teams, club and societies, and whatever else was of relevance to the people of the Sevenoaks District.

The team say they also wanted to provide for those that had no existing presence on the web and to provide an alternative to large, expensive, national directory websites that provided little real value either to the person searching or the business or entity they were searching for.

Further details can be found on the 247oaks website: http://www.247oaks.co.uk/blog/2014/03/this-website-is-for-sale/

THE STAGE IS SET IN SEVENOAKS

The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy runs a studio at St Thomas' Catholic Primary School in Sevenoaks. Young people between the ages of 5 - 18 can enrol for these affordable drama classes which develop confidence and communication skills.

The Academy's specialist drama teachers, who are all DBS checked, undergo extensive training in the Helen O'Grady teaching methods. They ensure each student is encouraged in a warm, positive learning environment, where mutual respect is a high priority.

The unique programme aims to develop confidence, self-esteem, verbal communication skills and creativity, through a highly developed and extensive drama curriculum. All students attend a one-hour lesson each week during the school year. In the summer term all the students begin rehearsing a scripted play, devised for their particular age-group, which is performed to an invited audience.

The curriculum, which has been developed over 30 years internationally, is constantly revised and updated. Classes include warm up activities, speech work, mimes to music, short scripted pieces and creative improvisations. Each age group has specially-written targeted material, so every child is challenged. The lessons are great fun!

Helen Walls, Principal of the Academy in Sevenoaks, says, "It is wonderful our drama classes are in easy reach of everyone! We have a fantastic curriculum and I know that each and every student will be nurtured in our child-centred, friendly school."

The Academy locally currently operates in the following locations: -
BIGGIN HILL - CHISLEHURST - GRAVESEND - HAYES - PETTS WOOD - ORPINGTON - SEVENOAKS - SHORTLANDS
