Police Commissioner Elections Tomorrow

Thursday 15th November brings the first Police and Crime Commissioner Elections to Kent and 40 other Police Force areas around England and Wales.

The Commissioner's role includes: meeting the public to get their views on policing, allocating the police budget, appointing and dismissing Chief Constables and setting local police priorities.

The Kent candidates are:

  • Ann Barnes - Independent
  • Dai Liyange - Independent
  • Craig Mackinlay - Conservative Party
  • Steve Uncles - English Democrats
  • Piers Wauchope - UK Independence Party
  • Harriet Bronwen Yeo - Labour Party
The Liberal Democrats are choosing not to field any candidates for these elections as they don't agree with the idea of elected commissioners and campaigned against it.
